2manybooks (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect personal information when you access our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information that you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Service, and information received from third-party service providers.

Account information. When you create an account, we may collect your email address, display name, profile photograph, authentication information, and account preferences.

Library information. We collect information about the books, magazines, posters, and other printed materials you add to your collection, including bibliographic records, images, descriptions, and associated metadata.

Social activity. We may process information about collectors you follow or subscribe to, libraries you view, and interactions with other users.

Transaction information. If you use marketplace or paid features, we may collect information associated with listings, subscriptions, purchases, billing status, and transaction history.

Technical information. We may automatically collect information about your device, browser, IP address, operating system, usage activity, and interactions with the Service.

2. How We Use Information

We use personal information to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.

This includes authenticating users, managing accounts, displaying libraries, maintaining catalog records, processing subscriptions, facilitating interactions between collectors, providing customer support, and communicating important service updates.

We may also analyze aggregated or de-identified usage information to understand how the Service is used, identify technical issues, and improve functionality.

We do not sell personal information to third parties for monetary compensation.

3. Public and Private Libraries

2manybooks allows users to designate their libraries as public or private.

Public libraries may be visible to other users and visitors, including associated collection records, profile information, and other content you choose to make public. Public information may also be accessible through search engines or shared links.

Private libraries are not intentionally displayed as public collections. However, relevant information may remain accessible to authorized personnel and service providers where necessary to operate, maintain, secure, or support the Service.

You are responsible for managing your library visibility settings and determining which information you choose to share.

Information previously made public may remain accessible through third-party caches, screenshots, or other independent copies after privacy settings are changed.

4. Catalog and Market Information

The Service retrieves and processes bibliographic information, cover images, publication records, historical prices, and other catalog data.

Some information may originate from public databases, commercial providers, user submissions, or other third-party sources.

We may store or cache catalog information to improve performance, maintain records, and support Service functionality.

Market estimates and pricing information are provided for informational purposes and do not constitute professional valuations.

5. Payments and Subscriptions

If you purchase a paid subscription, including Pro or Patron, payment information may be processed by third-party payment service providers.

We may receive and retain limited billing information, such as subscription status, payment confirmation, transaction identifiers, billing dates, and payment history.

Payment providers process financial information under their own privacy policies and security practices.

We do not intentionally store complete payment card numbers on our own servers.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We may use cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies to maintain authentication sessions, remember preferences, improve performance, and support Service functionality.

Some information may be stored locally on your device, while other information is maintained on our servers or by authorized service providers.

Clearing browser data may remove locally stored information and sign-in sessions, but it does not necessarily delete information associated with your account on our servers.

You can manage certain browser storage preferences through your browser settings.

7. Analytics and Service Improvement

We may collect usage information to understand how people interact with 2manybooks, including page views, feature usage, account activity, and technical performance.

This information helps us identify errors, improve accessibility, develop new features, and evaluate the performance of the Service.

Where practical, we may use aggregated or de-identified information for internal reporting and product development.

Any third-party analytics providers we use may process information on our behalf in accordance with applicable contractual and legal requirements.

8. Sharing of Information

We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:

  • With other users: When you make your profile, library, listings, or other information public.
  • With service providers: When necessary for hosting, authentication, payment processing, analytics, customer support, or other operational functions.
  • For legal reasons: When required to comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, legal proceedings, or to protect the rights and safety of the Service and its users.
  • In business transactions: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable legal requirements.

We do not disclose private library contents to other collectors except as directed by you or otherwise described in this Policy.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain account functionality, fulfill legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect legitimate business interests.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the purposes for which it is processed.

When information is no longer required, we may delete, anonymize, or securely retain it where permitted or required by applicable law.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

However, no electronic storage system, transmission method, or online service can be guaranteed completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information.

You may also have rights to restrict or object to certain processing activities, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, or appeal decisions concerning privacy requests.

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, where applicable.

We will not unlawfully discriminate against individuals for exercising applicable privacy rights.
